Sleepless in Mountain View

So...Miss Raya has been giving us a run for the money when it comes to sleep. While she slept beautifully (for the most part) during her first three months of life, often clocking in stretches as long as 6-7 hours, during the past few weeks she has started waking up every 1.5-2 hours on average. We could handle it at first, but the accumulated exhaustion is starting to take its toll (as in: while walking upstairs with my morning bowl of oatmeal on Saturday, I dropped the entire bowl on the soft carpet, spilling gooey oatmeal from the landing all the way down to the door of the closet at the bottom of the stairs; as far as I can tell, it happened as a momentary lapse of consciousness, since there was no event, such as tripping, that preceded it; my dad suggested that perhaps I had fallen asleep for a split second). This is eerily reminiscent of Sava, again, whose sleep habits plummeted some time around the 3-4 month mark, but the difference this time is that we do not feel completely helpless and despondent. We feel well equipped with that guru of sleep Weissbluth's advice, and we know that with proper discipline things will straighten themselves out eventually; it is just a matter of making it sane through the hard part. We are hampered from doing much right now because Raya is still on steroids, and until we have weaned her completely it will be hard to tell which behavior is just a bad habit and which is a side effect of the prednisone.
Sleepless or not, she is darn cute, as this video, post-morning-bath shows.
