Zucchini Craze

Sava's hunger strike continues; he drinks half of his usual amounts of milk and he barely eats solids. However, it should go down in history that his very first food fetish is...green...bitter...roasted...olive-oil drenched...zuchhini. Baby zucchini to be precise. We found them in TJ's a couple of weeks ago and he really took to them last week. They are the size of a finger and become very soft when roasted. We cut them cross-wise, in little wheels, which he picks up expertly and devours by the dozen. Last night he ate a total of five zucchini, which is gargantuan by Sava' s standards. His poops in the last few days have been mostly stink and zucchini skins.

In my desperation to have him eat something the other day, I actually gave him (shudders) TJ's version of an Oreo cookie. He tried it, rejected it promptly, and picked up a zucchini. Huh? Today we tried substituting okra for the zucchini (same color, same size) and he ate a few pieces but was not enthused. Since we want him to eat something, anything, he is getting zucchini again tonight.
