Daddy's Boy

Today was a big first in Sava's life. For the first time, he spent most of the day with dad and away from mom. And he did great.

Auntie Michelle and I went to the first of our season-ticket performances of the San Francisco Ballet. We saw a trio of ballets--Blue Rose, The Dance House, and Firebird--each as wonderful as the other two. I have a fantasy--wrong, I am sure--of Sava becoming a ballet dancer some day. Michelle says that's ok. She is not so ok with the idea of him becoming a figure skater; something to do with the latter being too effeminate. I think nothing is sexier nor more masculine than a man moving graciously to the sound of music. Nothing, of course, than what I have at home.

While I was gone, Daddy took Sava to playgroup during late morning, fed him lunch, put him to sleep, and then entertained him all afternoon into the early evening. When I came home, Sava was clearly tired but also happy and ready to go to bed. He did well munching on toast drenched in olive oil for dinner (a new favorite?) and then fell asleep with a nice milk shake. I could not be more proud of the two of them; nor happier with two such beautiful men in my life.

On a different note, Sava is finally taking to a version of the sippy cup, one with a straw instead of a spout. He's been drinking water from it in the last few days. Good boy.
