After two days of mild misery, Raya and I are back in the world of healing. Poor baby went through about 36 hours where the only way we were able to get breastmilk into her was with a small syringe of the kind we use to administer her medicines. She vomited several times--including twice in the middle of the night, when mommy heeded the doctor's advice to give liquids every 30-40 minutes literally and woke her up at 3 am, panicking that it had been four hours since we last got stuff in her; as it turns out, we were to give liquids only if she was awake, but how is one supposed to know that? Except for his feeding issues, Sava never fell sick during his first year, and vomiting of the sort we just experienced with Raya is a completely new ballgame for us. It was no fun torturing her every so often with the syringe, while I pumped around the clock in order to keep up the semblance of a milk supply, but we seem to have gotten through the worst of it. In fact, I feel almost completely healed, and she is not back 100%, but there are signs that she is on the mend.
Here to prove it are a couple of photos taken just today, featuring that signature goofy smiles which melts our hearts every time we see it. One of her favorite places, the Jumperoo--
And here is one showing the makeshift "reflux bed" that dedi Joni was instrumental in creating before he left, using two crib wedges (whoever thought one of these was sufficient to elevate a refluxing baby has obviously never had such a baby), two "floaties" (long pipe-like foam things whose exact names I don't know, used for swimming), and two garden rods to keep the floaties in place; the idea was to create an elevated mini-bed from which her squirming self would not easily dislodge. Well, now that she is six months old, all of 15 lbs 6 oz (before losing some this weekend), strong as a horse, and with new-found will-power, little holds this girlie in place; so, after I put her down for a nap today, and then I heard an explosion signaling the fourth poop of the day (aka diarrhea), here is how I found her:

Yes, she brings a smile to our faces. Many times each day.
