Since Sava was born, I have not touched a basketball or done any other form of exercise. This lack of activity and the good food at work have finally started to add significant padding to my midsection. Sava, however, cares about his daddy so much, that he is doing everything in his power to help me.
Nowadays, he serves as both my coach and a 15-pound medicine ball. Sava has even composed a special regimen for me. Last month, I would put him to sleep swinging him in his car seat. What a great way to develop upper body strength!
This month, we have moved to a different station in the gym. It seems that there is only one routine that quiets his crying spells in the middle of the night. I hold him with his back to my chest and do squats following a brisk rhythm: up and down, up and down, up and down. Judging by my sore quads, the routine seems to work.
I only hope he doesn't get a whiff of what sit ups and push ups are anytime soon.
