Sava was pretty excited that it was my birthday today, since that means his birthday is coming soon, too. At dinner he asked me, "Mommy, is this is your last birthday?"
Raya's daytime sleep remains atrocious, and her reflux seems as bad as ever, perhaps worse than ever. She started eating oatmeal about ten days ago, which definitely has slowed down her digestion, which in turn--contrary to what our old-school pediatrician told us--makes her reflux worse, not better; yes, solids are harder to reflux, but they stay in the stomach longer, which means that any milk on top of the solids comes right back up for at least a couple of hours after the solids have been eaten...ugh.
So...during the day Raya has yet to sleep more than 45 minutes at a time, and most of the time it is 30 minutes; I keep her awake no more than two hours between naps, but even so, by late afternoon she is so pooped that the only salvation for all of us is take a walk. She loves vegging in the back seat of the phil & ted stroller, which seems to have just the right incline for her tummy to feel comfortable. So, with the weather gorgeous and two hours to kill before dinnertime, we headed to the park this afternoon. Before Raya's arrival, kicking a ball with mom on an empty basketball court, while grandma walked Raya in the stroller, would not necessarily have qualified as Sava's ideal of an exciting afternoon; but now that he sees how hard it is for us to spend uninterrupted time together, he is grateful and joyous whenever I give him my full attention. He was giggling and shrieking so loudly while chasing the little ball that I feared someone would come over to chastise us. No such thing, and the boy was happy.
