Today for the first time since Raya's birth we went to Mountain View's weekly year-round Sunday morning farmer's market. We went to the market almost every Sunday last summer, and the boys rode the electric VTA train, which stops right next to the market, while I indulged in the sweetest solitary forty minutes of my week. I loved to stroll leisurely through the produce stands, eat the innumerable free samples, linger over my choice of tomatoes, salad, cantaloupe.
With Raya's erratic schedule, and so many little things to do around the house, going out to the market seemed like another chore the last few months. I missed it tremendously, but didn't know how to fit it in. So, when we made it this morning, the brief forty-five minutes we spent there felt joyous and celebratory. The colors and smells that greeted us matched my mood.
The boys rode Caltrain from our house to the market, and then VTA on a brief loop, while Raya, grandma, and I shopped.
