Elmo

We crossed yet another parental boundary today. As I write this, Sava and I are ensconced in front of the TV, and he is glued to a DVD featuring Elmo with all sorts of weird creatures, singing silly songs and dancing. Why Elmo is of any interest to him is a complete mystery, since he obviously does not understand the language and has never watched Sesame Street before. We managed to keep him away from children's programs with minimal effort until now, and it's only recently that he began to notice the TV, and only the last few days that we find ourselves using the box of moving pictures to entertain him. As our excuse, it should be mentioned that he is majorly out of sorts today, which a trip to the doctor this morning determined as possibly the start of a viral illness. So, as I sit and write this, it's a choice between a crying baby in my arms and a quiet one in front of singing Elmo. Not really a choice.
