The World is His Oyster

There are too many things happening lately to keep track of, so bullet points seem rather apt--
  • When a phone rings, or he just sees one, Sava reaches for it, picks it up, and says "Alo?"....the "l" is a bit iffy but it cracks us up each time
  • His favorite word is "kam," initially applied correctly only to trucks ("kamion") but now yelled at pretty much everything that interests him
  • The only other "word" in the repertory is "amamam" which he says when he is put in the high chair to eat (that is, on the occasions when he does not scream because he is being put in the high chair to eat)
  • When he sees animals or birds, he'll often go "papapapa," whether they have something to do with ducks or not
  • Finally learned to get up from squatting position by himself on July 4th, while playing at Mitchell Park where he also got very wet in the toddler sprinklers--ever so much fun
  • First real poor experience happened July 5th at Rinconada Pool, where the wading pool is fabulous; said experience was cut short because someone (wild guess: someone under the age of 3) pooped in the pool and they had to close.
  • Airplanes!!! our new favorite vehicles; he hears them inside the house and will point outside excitedly to encourage a parent to pick him up and take him out; he also hears the train (two large blocks away) and pretty much hyper-ventilates whenever a large vehicle is anywhere in proximity
  • Speaking of vehicles, for a couple of weeks now, Sava has been the proud owner of a Radio Flyer Tricycle; his legs are several inches too short for it, but we bought it because it has a push bar and we had gotten tired of bending to push him in his puny push'n'ride cars; he is obsessed with the trike, which he likes to take on walks with daddy around the neighborhood; said walks, mommy hears, involve much getting off and on in order to inspect old bikes, bushes with flowers blossoms, and other such treasures of the real world.
  • Speaking of vehicles again, Monday mornings at our house are thrilling. The garbage truck comes around at 8 a.m. and Sava watches it perched on daddy's shoulders (photo). If a bomb exploded somewhere in the back room during those precious fifteen minutes, he likely wouldn't notice.
